Nanshu Lu received her bachelor’s degree in solid mechanics from Tsinghua University in 2005 and her PhD in mechanics of materials from Harvard University in 2009. She then became a Beckman Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Lu joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Texas at Austin as an assistant professor in August 2011. Her research focuses on the mechanics of flexible electronics, including thin-film mechanics, contact mechanics, configurational design, and biointegration. Her research has been highlighted by  Science News, CNN  the BBC, and other news media.
